This is a live virtual course providing one-on-one private instruction. Designed to troubleshoot common HRD K9 training errors that may occur during solo and group/team training.

Topics:

Ways that K9s “cheat” to arrive at targets during training and what you can do about it to improve performance in operational settings.

The purposeful application of known versus blind source training scenarios and why they are used.

Errors in Final Trained Response (FTR) that may occur in positive or negative search areas (missing source when present or “alerting” in a negative area).

Inconsistencies in performance despite obvious changes in K9 behavior which may indicate the presence of known source odor.

Non-verbal communication between K9 and handler, whether conscious or accidental, their effects on performance outcomes during training and search operations, and strategies to mitigate their influence.
